A Painless “Data Divorce”

When two financial planners came to us for help to dissolve their partnership they wanted a clean break and an equitable division of data. They had been sharing the same computer system and the same data but each of them wanted to keep the system they were used to using.

3DotSolutions developed an inventory of everything on the system so the financial planners could agree on who needed what. We then created two identical computer systems that looked and worked just like their previous system, so that each partner could set up “business as usual” in a new location on a system they were familiar with. We also made sure that each partner got the data they needed in the data split.

Using our mirror image approach, we were able to get through the whole thing without the partners having to talk to each other. In the end, the split was amicable and the partners were so pleased with our professional service that they each remained clients of 3DotSolutions. Of course we like them both equally and don’t tell them that the other is still using our service.
